About Us
We collaborated with numerous National and International Trainers and Instructors to implement a comprehensive development philosophy at TSA, which includes tactical and curriculum-based elements that enhance player development. Our developmental methods are carefully structured with progression, allowing players to clearly understand the steps needed for consistent improvement. Unlike some programs that may lack direction, we are committed to our promise: We train you like the PROS!
Designed by TSA's Lead Trainer, Coach Julien Colston, who owns Too Smooth Skills Academy, our intensive developmental programs offer a well-organized regimen tailored for AAU Club players as well as Middle School and High School athletes. This program is crafted to elevate skills within a focused environment, challenging players to push beyond their comfort zones by integrating skills development with an emphasis on cardio, strength, and power. Each session includes vital components such as Ball Handling, Shooting, Core Development, and Strength Training.
Player Development - TOO SMOOTH SKILLS ACADEMY
Our Levels
To achieve success, it is essential to differentiate levels based on the ages and skill levels of players. Each athlete must begin at point A to be adequately prepared for point B and must complete point B before advancing to point C. The key lies in having predetermined and thoughtfully planned levels that cater to each player's specific needs for continued progress.
Our levels are determined by participants' grades and prior playing experience. Our aim is to find the ideal fit for your athlete, ensuring they can grow and develop in the right environment. It is crucial to consider skill level when selecting the most suitable program and level for each player, regardless of their age or grade.
Our Honest Evaluation
Self-Assessment and self awareness are paramount elements to finding success at the collegiate and professional level. Since the majority of our basketball students have set their eyes and their goals on college and the pros, we find it most important that we treat them like college and professional players. At TSA, we train every player like a pro, using advanced training methods that demand each athlete to get outside their comfort zone and embrace making mistakes along the way! However, since we can not expect elementary, middle school, and high school players to be masters of self-assessment and self-awareness, it is our duty as professional skill coaches to assess and evaluate each player in order to keep them on the path needed to find the success they are looking for.
That is why our training staff works together to give program recommendations and skill assessments to each participant at the close of each program. Honesty is the key, as each athlete will be given recommendations in order of need (even if that means retaking a program) and will be shown the three main skill areas they most need to improve.
